For someone who hates violence, I have a strange interest in historical warfare and the changes that resulted from the various confrontations that have occurred over time. Below are the stories of some historical collections I have made, visiting the places where significant events took place.

CIRCLING THE IRON RING

Over a weekend, I visit the Ring of Iron. These were the castles that Edward I either built or adapted to form a circle of defensive structures to defend the newly acquired principality of Wales in the 13th century.

Finding myself in Tewkesbury en route to a short hotel break in the Cotswolds, I decide to visit the Wars of the Roses battlefield. This sets me off on a quest to visit them all.
